Keep the faith...

Like all other spheres of our lives, Sports has had its fair share of controversies! The latest doping controversy involving the Rawalpindi Express and Asif threw up some thoughts.

Cricket has been going through a rather tough time ever since the Hansie Cronje match-fixing scandal came out in the open. What transpired within the confines of the dressing rooms, and off-the field was not only mind boggling, but also heart- breaking for a true cricket lover!

It was an incident akin to Dan Brown stirring up the question regarding Jesus Christ's divinity! The holy grail of the cricketing world was at peril. People didn't know if they could trust their cricketers or believe if they were really giving it all on the field. How on earth were they to know that something as innocuous as a bowler tying a shoelace was a signal for the fielding captain to make suitable field changes to allow the batsmen to score freely!

The match-fixing scandal left mass destruction in its wake and prominent names were dragged through it. While it was a chance for some for repentance, others were guillotined and could never again play for their country.

These are times when you begin to question everything! A loss of form, the slightest of faults, the minutest of peccadilloes...'Arey yaar....saale ne paisa khaya hai!'

But I'll keep the faith... Coz' there'll be moments of inspiration, pure magic, ecstasy and agony! And that's what life is all about! As it is rightly said, "You do not remember days, you remember and cherish moments!"

There'll be a Tugga fighting it out against all odds to singlehandedly take his team to the WC semis...There'll be a braveheart who fights cancer and cheats death to enter cycling's Hall of Fame! There'll be a Warnie bamboozling the batsmen and bowling the Basit Alis round their legs...There'll be a time when a team is led by a skipper who wears his heart on his sleeve and chases 434. And there'll be moments when demi-gods become mortals and headbutt their opponents..

These are the moments that stay with you...these are the ones that make sports so great!
